BPP Holds Procurement Retreat with Permanent Secretaries

Federal Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat on Public procurement Scheduled for Lagos
The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, will, on 11 January 2014, as the Special Guest of Honour, formally open the annual retreat for Federal Permanent Secretaries . The retreat, organized by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), will prepare the Permanent Secretaries, who are the accounting officers in the ministries, for the implementation of the 2013 budget, as well as prepare for the challenges of the one for year 2014, among other objectives. It is also aimed at improving participants’ understanding of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.

The Director-General of BPP, Engr. Emeka M. Ezeh, will lead a discussion on “Issues and Challenges in FY 2013 Budget Implementation and the Outlook for the 2014 Budget, vis-à-vis the Public Procurement Act, 2007.”

The retreat is part of the efforts to address the need for permanent Secretaries to be regularly provided with all possible information that would enhance their performances in the interest of the proper implementation of the Federal Capital Budget therefore becomes imperative.

The series began in 2010 and the last two retreats – in 2011 and 2012 – were held in Lagos. The 2014 event is also being held in Lagos – at the Federal Palace, Victoria Island.

Representatives of the National Assembly, offices of the Accountant-general of the Federation, Auditor-General of the Federation, Central Bank of Nigeria, anti-corruption agencies, civil society and the media will also participate in the retreat
